REVIEW HISTORY

The dream of founding this area began in 1977 as a proposal that was never more than just words until 1985, when students and teachers placed an empty classroom in the sector "C" of the University, to give life. However, despite all efforts made to create this area of study was not achieved because the purpose was not submitted any project where you specify the need, purpose and planning of the room, and this falls further this goal until 2002, the student Edgar Flores, the specialty of English, developed and presented a project as part of a personal goal and professional, dedicated to his institution.
It is not until 2006 that the project takes a new turn and heads in a series of changes made by Flores, who devoted years to seeking support for the provision of books by publishers and other applications to manufacturing companies. Also had the support of teachers Sagaray Juana, and Gustavo Abache, Tirado Athaide, and who then were Director Dean, Prof. Benjamin Higuerey, and Deputy Director of Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Alcides Zaragoza.











After 7 years after the goal, on Thursday, March 5 this year, the Head of the Department of Linguistics, Prof. Elizabeth Zapata, the Coordinator of Foreign Language Program, Prof.. Juana Sagaray, teachers and students, accompanied by the Director Dean, Dr. Alcides Zaragoza and Extension Assistant, MSc. Robin Ascanio, opened its doors.
The room is named "Prof. Victor Carlson, in honor of a great career teaching at the University, and was elected on a survey of both teachers and students in search of the name that was to take the room.

  Teachers and students were present during the opening ceremony, in which the Heads of Department and Foreign Language Program offered few words of welcome, and unveiled a plaque which appeared a few words written in honor of Prof. Carlson, followed that of Prof. Sagaray achievements of the honoree said, referring to it as "great teacher", worthy of merit awarded for being a friend, teacher and parent who has left and still leave its mark on students who have been fortunate to call him professor.





Prof. Carlson, a Chilean who spent 34 years living in this "generous land" as he calls it, showed emotion as he unfolded a sheet in his hands to read a speech he had prepared for the occasion, which he considered "a magical moment of life."
             After the words of Prof. Carlson, Dr. Zaragoza said that this is an example of perseverance, cooperation and coordination of work between professors and students to achieve goals. The event ended with refreshments for the audience, and students of the specialty because was Professor of Literature and also a teacher appreciated by all, a good teacher.

Finally Years later is when the Reading Room was open, to this day that still works.
